
TrafficJunky offers two automated bidding models, called Smart CPM, that are designed to help you secure high-engagement, premium ad spots at the most effective CPM possible. Both offer a hands-off approach to bid optimization, differing slightly in how aggressive they react to market conditions.
- Balanced leverages real-time market conditions and historical winning bids to secure ad placements while prioritizing cost efficiency.
- Top Bid is the competitive bidding option that matches or places you just above the highest competing manual bid.
Regardless which model you choose, you’re able to set a max bid to ensure overall control of your ad spend.
Activating Smart CPM (Balanced or Top Bid)
Login to your TrafficJunky account. On Step 3 of Campaign Creation (Tracking, Sources & Rules), select either Balanced or Top bid.

Automatic Source Targeting
- Smart CPM is ON by default
- You set a Max Bid (maximum CPM you want to pay per spot), and the system manages and adjusts your bids accordingly.
Manual Source Targeting
- Smart CPM is optional (on/off).
- If On, you’re offered a default CPM based on the ad format you’re using. You can either accept that Max Bid suggestion or set your own Max Bid.
- If Off, you’re able to manually set your CPM per source. Read more about Manual Source Targeting here.
